In the book Persepolis, the main character is introduced as a curious and ambitious young girl. The author makes Persepolis seem full of life and with creative ideas that get her in to trouble.
Persepolis was asked “what do u want to be when you grow up?” pg8, and she answered “I’ll be a prophet”. Every one laughed at her and her answer was brought to the attention of her parents. Persepolis parents asked her the same question and she answered with “I want to be a doctor.” At night Persepolis felt guilty towards God. God came towards her and asked her I thought you wanted to be a prophet, and she said she did but nobody should know. As time went by, she started to forget about God and her dream of becoming a prophet. She ignored God to the point of him not showing up anymore.
As human beings we tend to be ashamed when another person laughs at our ideas and our ways of approaching things, we tend to hide and forget about the dreams we once had. It’s a shame when we realize that our ideas weren’t dense that we were just not confident and we try to dream again but it just doesn’t feel right.
