Well what i read so far i know that the main characters in my book are name Lealan Jones and Lloyd Newman. They have been bestfriends since the second day of first grade. I also know that that they are teenage african american males living in the Ida B Wells project homes in the ghetto. I know that Lealan contributed a little more than Lloyd in the writing of the book because he talked more. They both were short but Lealan was a more heavy set than Lloyd. Lealan was better at reading and Lloyd was better at math so they helped each other out with school and even if one got into a fight and was loseing the other one would help.
The writer of the book bring you into there environment by telling you there life through pictures, recording there day to day life, and giving you vivid descriptions of what goes on in there neighborhood.
I feel very connected to both of the main characters. I grew up in bad neighborhoods also and i lived in the projects when i was younger with my brothers and sister and we saw run down, boarded up houses and we had to hurry home by a certain time because we knew they were going to start shooting. Also seeing crackheads and people over dosing and streets lookin like garbage and people always fighting and argueing. I felt connected also because like they said in the book:"it is fun in the hood you just have to know when to play and not to" because i still had fun when i was little i jus rolled with the punches like them so i feel a deep connection.
