About Me (MG)

Hello everyone, My name is Michael Gore, but I prefer Mike. I am 17 years old, and I’m from Chicago and Dolton Il. I went to Thornridge High school. At Thornridge I played football and participated in the concert and jazz bands. I plan on attending Columbia in the fall and majoring in Music (instrumental performance). My music background history is, I have been playing the drums and percussions since I was eight. I started piano at seven, but I didn’t stick with it until I got older. I played the drums by ear from ages eight to thirteen. At age thirteen my mother convinced me that I would be more marketable if I knew how to read music. I then joined my church’s youth orchestra and our women’s choir. I played with them up until the end of last year. When I went to high school I also joined Concert band three years to of which I also did jazz. I am a very diverse musician, and I actually planned on participating in Gallery 37 Music program but I have to do this bridge program. I just got back into mallet and keyboard percussions when I joined the youth orchestra at my church. I am ok. I know major and minor chords and most scales. I have a group that consists of me (drums) my friend Thaddeus (mallets) and my other friend Steve (bass). I plan on adding on to our group and also playing for another group sometime in the near future.
