Chuck Palahniuk is certainly different from any other author I've read. His introduction was definitely necessary, especially to understand where the first chapter is coming from. He seems like a regular guy who takes his inspiration from his friends and past working environments. Stranger than Fiction is built of true stories from Palahniuk’s cycle of fact and fiction. He Exemplifies the difference between a writer and a journalist, a writer writes for you and a journalist writes to the larger world. Palahniuk’s theory on building a character was my favorite part, for example...
"A fashion model sees the world as a series of rival for public attention."
The first chapter Testy Festy was outrageous, all the vulgar language certainly had me on my toes and eager to explore what else Palahniuk had to offer.

Great summary Nicole. Do you feel you know people like the characters in the story? In what ways might people become rivals for public attention that you see?
