Flynn's Example Reponse to Thesis Blog
It concerns me that it takes stories like the ones told to us today, stories about the execution of innocent boys, about the attempted trapping of a nine year old into an army, to think about how we are affected by similar circumstances. Why does compassion have to come after horror? Do we act out compassion on a day-to-day basis? Can we alter the depth of the atrocities surrounding us enough to feel happy at least a bit? With the incredible amount of disturbing and relentless forms of violence, not just abroad but even at home, it is my thought that we can never escape the horror and thus we often steer away from compassion.
